share

since being married i have desired to locate even more delicious and fun recipes...

tartlette: this blog looks great and i found a great recipe for roasted asparagus and tomatoes with parmesan and a fried egg.

i really want to know how both women get sponsors for a blog about places they like to eat, seriously

Less Fest

I have mentioned Hayes Valley Farm before, i know, but it just keeps getting cooler. I have yet to volunteer there but on Saturday they had a Less Fest, informing people about the affects of consumerism, the importance of local foods and many more issues regarding global health including a beautiful mural. It was put on by high school students and involved games and prizes and a free lunch. I enjoyed meeting new people and experiencing the garden first hand. They are planting fava beans to restore the nitrogen and have little plots of all kind of vegetables and flowers. The volunteer days are thursday and sunday.
hopefully that's where i'll be.

networking

i don't do well without purpose.
i've always been a student, had a title and a goal. while the constant stress wears a person thin at times it was something i knew.
now i'm a housekeeper in a big city with a huge goal that seems impossible to achieve.
i don't want to be a professional resume sender,
i don't want to work in a cafe,
i don't want to be useless.
so now i'm a networker.
its not much but if i can verify my time spent talking to people and attempting to make connections maybe something will come of it and i won't settle.
a girl can hope.

coda

there's a group called the jazz mafia in san francisco. different members play at different venues throughout the city.
we went to coda,
a new jazz club, and listened to crystal monee hall.
she was on broadway with rent and
was amazing playing with a band as well.
she did a rendition of seasons of love and her arrangement of heartbreaker was mesmerizing.
we loved getting lost in the music. what an experience.

don miller

i recently read his new book, a million miles in a thousand years and i am enamored. his thoughts on stories were enlightening. i can't stop thinking about the story i am telling and why.

sushi and eclairs

where else can you visit the beach, eat delicious cheap sushi and top it off with an eclair at a russian bakery? only san francisco. it was a beautiful sunny day and i'm so glad i got to enjoy it with bekah and jacob.

we're headed home tomorrow so this was a lovely way to spend our last day here before we go to texas for a week. we'll miss it.

bike ride

we took the tandem bike for a spin this weekend. it was so sunny here that i got burned, ridiculous. we went to the farmer's market. got some strawberries and ventured to a new ice cream place. it was lovely. we didn't take any pictures though. i guess we were distracted but i'll work on this. we are getting into the groove of relaxing.
its kinda nice actually.

school

i seem to wax poetic on thursdays so here i go again,
at least philosophically if not poetically.
while its nice to have free time and be married, of course,
i do NOT do well without a friend schedule.
i miss going to class on thursday and friday morning. i need that engagement with lots of people and conversation and stimulation.
while its been a relief to not have deadlines hanging over my head what i miss is the proscribed time with my friends.
i need their hugs, and laughs and questions.
this is going to be the biggest adjustment.
and with summer whisking many of them away its difficult to arrange schedules and lives with the ones that are here. but i want to, i need to and so it will happen, i just have to buck up and realize that it won't be as often.
things change and it takes a bit to get into the new flow but i know, after a bit, it will be good.

mrs. furr, chocolate and coffee

on tuesday i finally succeeded with the social security office after also succeeding on monday with the DMV.
i am now officially mrs. furr.
though the picture ids to prove it will take a little time.
after this little victory i went to blue bottle where i had placed my resume last week.
they gave me a free coffee and a sample of chocolate and i chatted with the baristas.
i spoke to the manager and gave her my spiel but they're not hiring at this time. they will pass my resume around and call me if anything opens up. atleast i got some face time and a free coffee.

on my way home i stopped in at the tcho chocolate factory. they are not doing tours now but they had free samples.
i really enjoyed the citrus.
a green volkswagen bus then picked me up and we went grocery shopping. it was a lovely day.

christina's boot camp

whenever people, especially jacob, visited over the past year i've joked about how i put them through a boot camp.
with all the walking and bus riding and san francisco hill climbing. there are different levels of difficulty yet everyone's always passed with flying colors.
i took it to new levels over the weekend though, i put jacob through the equivalent of def-con five, the epitome of the boot camp, the final test we'll say.
i wasn't feeling well, we didn't get to finish our meal at the restaurant, we had to ride the bus and find pit stops on the way home, and it involved staying up very late in our bathroom.
but he was a pro, he gave me cold compresses and told me stories and brought me pineapple juice.
he's now officially certified. i think i'm going to make him a certificate.

a bryan photo

bryan johnson did an incredible job at our wedding.
i knew he would but i was still impressed.
we had so much fun and the images i've seen so far are amazing.
after waiting, very impatiently i might add, he recently blogged about our wedding.
enjoy this preview of what's to come!

a lovely day

paper work sucks but riding the bus and reading with the one you love makes everything worth it.
i don't suggest changing your name for the fun of it but if you do make sure you have the original copy of your marriage license and a passport, previous driver's licenses don't work.
so after two bus trips,
about 6 hours total
and 2 cheeseburgers, 2 shakes, and one fry, and one conversation with tony's brother, of tony's cable car restaurant,

i have no driver's license to show for it but i do have lots of wonderful memories.

heath

my dad kindly gave jacob and me a little set of heath ceramics for a wedding gift, as if he didn't already do enough, and we have so enjoyed eating our meals on them.
They have such unique designs and are made in sausalito.
yet they are prone to break, not good for this household.
this accident has already occurred but they were nice enough to replace the broken mug.
i should have listened before i picked out the "girly" ones.

we are enjoying making our studio a home.
